OpenAI’s 5 October 2026 announcement describes a visual ad format and measurement updates. A US test with an initial advertiser group was planned for later that month, including image-generation flows for Free and Go users. Ads are labeled and separate from the generated image. This is not evidence of universal access to the new format.
Two checks before a campaign
Confirm eligibility for your account, market and creative format in the current advertising entry. Then check whether your own conversion records are complete. A format announcement alone is not a reason to move an entire existing budget. We have not created an ad account, bought advertising or connected business data.
Attribution is not the same as additional orders
Our suggested measurement approach separates platform-attributed clicks and conversions from orders gained relative to not running a campaign. The former supports routine tracking; the latter needs a considered comparison. Another brand’s reported example is not an expected return for your store.
- Define the relevant objective: new customers, orders, margin or another specific outcome.
- Before launch, document order deduplication, refunds and attribution windows.
- If sample size and operations permit, discuss group or geographic comparisons with an analyst. Do not rush to label small-sample movement as growth.
- Include creative production, human review and service costs before deciding whether to expand.
Our assessment
A new advertising entry deserves attention, while access conditions, data quality and evaluation determine its fit for a particular business. This article offers an analytical framework, not a return forecast or an account test.
